Continuation of Cleaning Activities Within the Field Response Plan, Supported by the Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA)

The sanitation workers’ teams operating under the Field Response Project continue to implement intensive and systematic cleaning campaigns across several areas of Khan Younis Governorate. These activities are carried out according to an organized plan extending from west to east to ensure comprehensive coverage of streets and residential blocks. Supported by the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), these efforts aim to improve public cleanliness and reduce health risks associated with waste accumulation amid the ongoing humanitarian and public health challenges.

Field teams conducted the collection, transportation, and sorting of solid waste from targeted streets and neighborhoods. Activities also included cleaning sidewalks, opening surface water drainage channels where necessary, and removing obstacles that hinder the movement of pedestrians and vehicles. Teams were deployed across organized operational zones to ensure access to various residential blocks and maintain continuity of operations according to a defined schedule, while monitoring the quality of implementation.

Cleaning activities covered several key streets and residential areas, including Al-Hayya Street, Asdaa Street, Hunayn Street, Al-Istabl Street, Faisal Street, Al-Majayda Street, Al-Rubaiya (Al-Nakheel) Street, Al-Arab Street, Al-Natlat Street, Al-Bashir Street, and Al-Hidaya Street. Particular attention was given to waste accumulation points, large waste deposits, and areas near schools and health centers in order to reduce health risks for the largest possible segment of the population.

The cleaning operations contributed to improving the overall appearance of the targeted areas, reducing the spread of insects and unpleasant odors, and enhancing mobility for residents within the streets. The focus on roads located near public facilities also had a direct positive impact on the safety of students and visitors to health centers. In addition, the campaign helped raise public awareness among residents about the importance of cleanliness and waste segregation at the source.

> “We are committed to implementing a comprehensive field plan that ensures access to every corner, and we work in coordination with our partners to guarantee the sustainability of the results.”

Follow-up maintenance visits have been scheduled to ensure that serviced areas are cleaned regularly and that achieved results are maintained over time.
