OCHA Delegation Visits Al-Matahin Shelter Centre and Supports Education Initiatives in Khan Younis

AlFajr Palestinian Youth Association (FPYA) welcomed the Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Gaza Strip, Mr. Taher, accompanied by Ms. Gloria and Mr. Anas Hallas, during a field visit to Al-Matahin Shelter Centre.
The visit aimed to assess the humanitarian situation and identify the needs of displaced families living at the centre, as well as to discuss ways of strengthening humanitarian interventions and providing essential services that improve their living conditions and preserve their dignity.
The visit also included a review of efforts to rehabilitate two existing schools: Al-Manar School in Al-Mawasi, Al-Qarara, and Amjad School in Al-Satar Al-Gharbi. In addition, Al-Noor School was officially inaugurated at Al-Matahin Shelter Centre.
These efforts seek to ensure the continuity of education and provide safe and appropriate learning spaces for children amid the significant challenges facing the education sector in the Gaza Strip.
During the visit, Mr. Taher reaffirmed his support for the Palestinian people and stressed the importance of sustaining the humanitarian response and intensifying efforts to meet the growing needs of affected and displaced families, strengthen community resilience, and safeguard human dignity.
AlFajr Palestinian Youth Association welcomed the visit and emphasised the importance of continued coordination and cooperation with United Nations agencies and humanitarian organisations to strengthen interventions and respond effectively to community needs, particularly in the shelter and education sectors.
