AlFajr Organizes Training for Sanitation Volunteers on Waste Management and Occupational Safety
2025/12/28
As part of its ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness and foster a culture of volunteerism, Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association (FPYA), in partnership with the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), organized a specialized training session for sanitation volunteers working in areas hosting displaced communities.
The training addressed appropriate and safe procedures for handling solid waste during collection and transportation from displacement sites. It also provided health and preventive guidance to protect workers from waste-related health hazards, including exposure to bacteria and viruses.
The session further focused on strengthening occupational health and safety practices during the implementation of field activities under the sanitation project. It emphasized the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and consistently using appropriate personal protective equipment while performing daily tasks.
The training forms part of ongoing efforts to build the capacities of sanitation volunteers, reduce their exposure to occupational and health risks, and improve the quality of sanitation and waste-management services in displacement areas.
AlFajr Palestinian Youth Association appreciates UNDP’s support for this valuable activity, which contributes to creating a cleaner and safer environment while strengthening environmental and public health awareness within the community.
