As part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to improve essential services for displaced families, Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association implemented a project to extend a 500-metre permanent water network to Al-Fajr Camp, west of Al-Matahin, and the surrounding area.

The project was implemented with generous support from the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in cooperation with Al-Qarara Municipality.

This intervention forms part of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Programme and contributes to the establishment of Al-Fajr Shelter Centre west of Al-Matahin. It aims to provide displaced families living in the camp and residents of the surrounding area with safe water for domestic use and alleviate their hardship amid the challenging humanitarian conditions.

The extension of the water network represents an essential step towards improving health and environmental conditions within the camp, reducing the difficulties families face in accessing water, and strengthening the sustainability of water services for the most vulnerable groups.

Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association affirmed that the project reflects the importance of coordinated efforts between supporting organisations and local partners to strengthen the humanitarian response, improve the quality of services provided to displaced families, and preserve their dignity
