Project Details

On Saturday, 7 March, Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association (FPYA) launched the “Torches of Hope” Volleyball Tournament in displacement centers across Khan Younis Governorate. The tournament is funded by Wafaa Al-Muhsineen Charitable Foundation and supervised by the Higher Council for Youth and Sports.

The tournament brings together 16 youth teams representing 16 displacement centers. This sporting and community initiative aims to promote youth engagement, provide a safe and positive space for young people to participate in sports and demonstrate their abilities, and strengthen communication and cooperation among residents of the displacement centers.

The tournament responds to the need of young people and displaced communities for sports and recreational activities that support their mental and social well-being, offer opportunities for positive expression, and promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive outlook.

The matches are held on simple playing grounds within the displacement centers, reflecting the ability of Palestinian youth to transform limited spaces and available resources into platforms for activity and hope while maintaining community participation despite difficult humanitarian conditions.

Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association affirms that the “Torches of Hope” Tournament forms part of its ongoing efforts to support young people and displaced communities, revitalize sports activities, and promote sport as a means of strengthening resilience, social cohesion, and hope among participants.
