AlFajr Palestinian Youth Association (FPYA) launched “Emergency Project No. 1 for 2026” by relocating displaced families at risk of flooding from the Al-Qarara seashore to a newly established shelter centre west of Al-Matahin. The relocation was funded by the Arab and International Commission to Build Palestine (AIOCP), while the shelter centre was established with support and cooperation from several humanitarian partners
Project Details
As part of its projects to establish safe emergency shelters, Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association began implementing “Emergency Project No. 1 for 2026,” which involves establishing a shelter centre west of Al-Matahin and accommodating displaced families exposed to immediate risks.
The Association’s team began relocating families at risk of flooding from the Al-Qarara seashore as part of an emergency humanitarian response to protect them from severe weather conditions and rising sea levels.
The relocation was funded by the Association’s partner, the Arab and International Commission to Build Palestine (AIOCP), to ensure the families’ safety, move them to a safer location, and provide them with a minimum level of protection and temporary stability.
The establishment of the shelter centre west of Al-Matahin responds to the urgent humanitarian needs of displaced families and forms part of ongoing efforts to alleviate their hardship and provide a safer, more appropriate shelter environment that preserves their dignity.
The centre was established with the support and cooperation of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), the Arab and International Commission to Build Palestine (AIOCP), and the Beit Lahia Development Association (BLDA).
Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the conditions of families living at the centre and coordinating with humanitarian partners to provide essential assistance and strengthen shelter and protection services during the emergency.
