AlFajr Palestinian Youth Association has launched the “Community Health Education for Safe Waste Management in Displacement Sites” project as part of its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Program, with funding from the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA).
Project Details
The project aims to raise awareness among displaced families about safe and healthy waste-management practices, reduce health and environmental risks, and prevent the spread of diseases in displacement sites across Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis.
The project deploys 22 field health educators across
displacement sites in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, to conduct awareness sessions and community activities on personal and public hygiene, proper waste collection and disposal, and the prevention of diseases associated with waste accumulation and environmental contamination.
It also promotes community participation in maintaining clean displacement sites, encourages healthy daily practices, and provides families with practical guidance to mitigate risks resulting from improper waste management, particularly amid overcrowding and inadequate water and sanitation services.
The project forms part of the ongoing efforts of Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association and its partner, the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), to improve health and environmental conditions in displacement sites and strengthen the capacity of affected communities to prevent disease and maintain a healthier and safer environment.
